Currently doing 1-on-1 Self-Tape Audition Coaching

Next Self-Tape workshop on ZOOM date: TBA

self tape acting workshop class

Aimed at demystifying the now accepted norm of self-tape auditioning, this workshop will cover ALL the tech issues you could possibly have including: gear, home setups, editing, etc.

The acting portion during the 8 classes will cover acting choices, eye line, preparation, reader, slate style and more. The acting instruction and critique will be in the style of a Meisner Technique teacher combined with the trained eye of a filmmaker and an actor experienced in the audition room.

The workshop will be conducted by César Gamiño, a 25+ year Meisner trained actor who has served as Bill Alderson’s assistant teacher at the Hollywood studio since 2012. Bill is known as one of the last teachers originally taught by Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City. In addition to acting and teaching, César is also a working Director in Los Angeles.

TESTIMONIALS

César helped direct me through a self tape at home under not ideal circumstances: Night time, didn’t have a good light… and I booked the guest star role on an NBC sitcom! — Laura Patalano (Gentefied on Netflix, Victor & Valentino, The L Word)

César has always been my goto for self-taping my auditions. Being a Meisner trained actor, he knows how to direct me and make interesting acting choices. He’s an “actor’s director” plus he’s a technical wiz.

-Michael Nouri (Yellowstone on Paramount+, Damages, Flashdance)

Ces filmed and directed one of my original characters, Sunbrella, which helped lead to me to booking a series regular on MadTV. He knows how to find and bring out my acting strengths and make the right acting choices.

-Jeremy D Howard, MadTV, Black Lady Sketch Show (HBO), Great News (NBC)

César has helped me over the years with many auditions and has improved the quality of my self-tapes immensely. I'm a Meisner actor by nature and lean heavily on working off the other actor, which can be tricky in a self-tape. Ces helped me get rooted into my own performance and find ways to work off the material and the reader, and the improvement is easy to see when I watch my newer auditions. I'd recommend Ces to anyone looking to get an edge on self-tape submissions.

-Victor Salvatore (Burn Notice)

I've had the pleasure of working with César many times in numerous sketches as well as an entire series that he and his wife created. Every time we've collaborated, they've created a fun, safe atmosphere to play in that's allowed me as the actor to make bold, creative choices and play around with improv. It's a blessing to work with another Meisner trained actor who knows what it's like in front of the lens as well as behind. It's also important to note that when they enjoy working with you, they bring you back time and time again.

-Bryan McClure (The Walking Dead, Mindhunter, Atlanta, In Other Words [HBO Max] )

Coaching with César is a game changer. He helps me feel grounded and free in my character and has an eye for making interesting choices. It's really helpful that he has the experience as both an actor and director, too, so he knows what looks good on camera. I feel so much more comfortable and confident in my auditions with him. Self-taping has become fun instead of super stressful.
